90+ scores for Vidal Estate in esteemed Robert Parkers - Wine Advocate

Joe Czerwinski from Wine Advocate has given Vidal some stellar reviews from the recent North Island tasting further cementing Vidal Estate as a premium producer of quality wines in New Zealand.

Vidal Legacy Hawkes Bay Chardonnay 2018

93/100 – Fast becoming a perennial favorite, the 2018 Legacy Chardonnay skillfully marries winemaker artifice with impeccable fruit quality. It features elegant notes of toasted hazelnuts accenting bold fruit flavors that suggest grilled pineapple and white peaches. Medium to full-bodied, it exhibits both generosity and restraint, being plump in the mouth, yet fine, elegant and long on the finish.

Vidal Soler Hawkes Bay Chardonnay 2018

91/100 – The 2018 Soler Chardonnay ups the intensity a bit more, marrying intense notes of pineapple with toasted hazelnuts and even a bit of mocha from the 26% new French oak barrels in the mix. That slightly darker undercurrent actually works to accentuate the brightness and citrusy nature of the fruit, which seems to grow on the medium-bodied palate and lingers elegantly on the finish.

Vidal Soler Gimblett Gravels Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

91/100 – The 100% varietal 2017 Soler Cabernet Sauvignon delivers intense aromas of slightly weedy cassis, cedar and a touch of tobacco. It's medium-bodied, with a sturdy build of richly textural tannins and a long, velvety finish. Aged in 45% new French oak, it carries the wood well, with gentle cedar tones just reemerging on the finish.

Vidal Soler Gimblett Gravels Syrah 2017

91/100 – The medium-bodied 2017 Soler Syrah weighs in at a balanced 13% alcohol. It spent 18 months in 36% new French oak, yielding a wine that offers up enticing aromas of licorice, cracked pepper, plum and just a hint of cranberry and cedar. Enjoy it over the next 5-7 years for its cheerful fruit and silky texture.

Vidal Reserve Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2019

90/100 – Vidal's 2019 Reserve Sauvignon Blanc is drawn primarily (85%) from the Wairau Valley, with the balance coming from Awatere. The Awatere lends an herbal edge to the passion fruit and tropical notes of Wairau, blending together nicely on the nose and palate. It's medium-bodied, with a touch more concentration and depth than the regular bottling, and there's a hint of creaminess to the texture and a lingering finish.

Vidal Reserve Hawkes Bay Chardonnay 2018

90/100 – Fully barrel fermented and aged (with 15% new French oak), the 2018 Reserve Chardonnay is a huge step up from the entry-level bottling. Scents of gently toasted hazelnuts complement grilled white peaches and pineapple on the nose, while the medium-bodied palate is silky in feel from start to long, citrusy finish.
